What you'll do

  • Territorial responsibility for the administration of the Dealer Sales and Service Agreements (DSSA) between General Motors of Canada Company (GMCC) and its dealer network.
  • Accountable for all vehicle sales and marketing activities in their district.
  • Act as trusted advisors to dealerships, collaborating on the development and implementation of business plans that drive retail sales, market share, revenue, and customer experience improvements.
  • Support and guide regional marketing plans and strategies into the district.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities and developing plans to grow retail sales, market share and revenue.
  • Develop and implement a business plan for the district to achieve retail sales and market share objectives, while ensuring optimal coverage of estimated and available shipping volumes.
  • Achieve district sales and market share objectives by analyzing sales, inventory, market share, and competitive data; identifying opportunities and gaps to develop dealer-specific action plans.
  • Drive improvement in low market share dealerships through targeted performance improvement plans (e.g., DPIP, DRER or priority dealer programs).
  • Drive effective forecasting processes at the dealer level using tools and reports to ensure appropriate product mix and timing.
  • Support related revenue performance: accessory sales, OnStar, GM Protection Plan (GMPP), GM financial products.
  • Develop and implement a district business plan to achieve customer satisfaction and in-store experience objectives, including supporting GMCC customer satisfaction initiatives and the Retail Excellence Program.
  • Develop a customer-centric culture within the dealer network; ensure processes and procedures support customers and foster loyalty throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the digital customer experience (websites, online retailing, CRM processes) and implement in-store innovations that enhance the customer journey.
  • Optimize customer satisfaction performance and address dealer pain points through structured action plans; manage complex customer complaints with a win-win approach.
  • Collaborate with dealers on Google Reviews, contributing to increased response rates and promptly addressing negative feedback.
  • Lead and motivate dealers through consultation cycles and ordering meetings, ensuring ordering strategies fully leverage opportunities from the vehicle lineup and ICE/EV vehicles to increase market share.
  • Develop plans and strategies to optimize vehicle order coverage and support retail sales, considering production constraints and dealer inventory needs.
  • Support the implementation of GM initiatives to build and maintain a strong dealer network (e.g., GM branding program, OnStar, certified pre-owned vehicles, GM Pro Training, REP).
  • Monitor dealer compliance with GMCC advertising standards and support Regional Marketing Advisory Board (RMAB) campaigns and guidelines; promote joint advertising initiatives in key cities where applicable.
  • Ensure dealers optimize business development by leveraging digital strategies (websites, digital packages, CRM) and GM tools such as Dealer Direct, DealDriver Pro, stock balancing tool, sales and product training, and recognition programs (President’s Club, SMG, GM Elite).
  • Identify and develop key EV ambassador dealers within the district to support GM's strategy and growth in this area.
  • Maintain effective communication and ensure programs, processes, and performance expectations are well understood.
  • Keep the Regional Sales Director and Regional Management fully informed of all major sales issues, opportunities, and compliance matters within the district.
  • Monitor dealer profitability, identify improvement opportunities, and support initiatives to increase dealer profitability as needed.
  • Track dealer performance against key sales indicators, document progress, and ensure timely follow-up on action plans.
  • Undertake specific assignments at the request of the Regional Manager or Regional Management.

  • Strong sales and negotiation skills; proven ability to work independently as well as within cross-functional and virtual teams.
  • Knowledge of distribution processes, field sales tools, and GM reporting.
  • Valid driver's license (or provincial equivalent) and availability for frequent travel (approximately 50% of the time or more).
  • Candidates should be prepared to relocate within their assigned district and demonstrate the flexibility required to support the business effectively.
