As a DevOps Engineering Intern at atvari, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Nix-based development and deployment environments. You will assist in writing and refining Nix and NixOS configurations, automating build and deployment workflows, and integrating Nix with existing software projects.

What you'll do

  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Nix-based development and deployment environments
  • Assist in writing and refining Nix and NixOS configurations
  • Automate build and deployment workflows
  • Integrate Nix with existing software projects
  • Collaborate with engineers on backend services
  • Troubleshoot environment and dependency issues
  • Document configuration and tooling
  • Work closely with the engineering team
  • Gain hands-on experience with Rust, Nix, and cloud-native practices

What they require

  • Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and operating systems
  • Exposure to Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one high-level language (Rust experience is a plus)
  • Understanding of Back-End Web Development concepts, such as APIs, microservices, and server-side frameworks
  • Familiarity with Functional Programming (FP) principles and their practical application in codebases
  • Interest in Nix / NixOS, reproducible builds, DevOps, and infrastructure as code
  • Ability to learn quickly, work in a team setting, and communicate clearly about technical topics
  • Comfort working remotely in Germany and collaborating in a cross-functional engineering environment
  • Eligibility conditions: you do not have a completed apprenticeship or university degree (Freiwilliges Praktikum) or you need a mandatory internship as part of a degree program (Pflichtpraktikum)
