The Data Migration Specialist (DMS) is a member of the Implementation team, responsible for transitioning the data required to build an operational database in FundCount. The Implementation team handles the efficient and accurate onboarding of new FundCount clients and their training. Our clients are single- and multi-family offices, fund administrators, and hedge funds who hold a wide range of public and private securities and general ledger transactions. The DMS plays a critical role in ensuring historical data is transferred efficiently and reconciled with official records.

What you'll do

  • Apply expert Excel and related database programming/management skills to export and organize data from legacy systems for import into FundCount.
  • Perform data validation tests to understand and improve data quality.
  • Document data flow through legacy system antecedents and other databases.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis where necessary in recommending process improvements.
  • Assist in the creation of new — and the maintenance of existing — data import and export interfaces between FundCount and 3rd-party systems and services.
  • Develop Excel-based macros and scripts to automate data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Build validation and reconciliation reports and dashboards to confirm migrated data ties out to official records.
  • Work on multiple data migration implementation projects simultaneously.
  • Interface with internal staff to implement data migration tasks.
  • Manage data migration testing and reporting.
  • Help identify design and interface process improvements.
  • Create systems integration documentation.
  • Submit the results of work into the Jira tracking system, properly describing and organizing each task according to the company’s established workflow.

What they require

  • 2+ years of relevant experience creating reports for business users of ERP systems.
  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge and an understanding of SQL queries.
  • Understanding of the principles of analyzing large data sets and identifying patterns to define rules.
  • Ability to learn new things quickly and work both independently and as a member of a project team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience in the accounting, financial, economic, or banking sector; investment, trading, and hedge fund accounting knowledge.
  • Knowledge of jXLS (report and template generation).
  • Familiarity with version control (Git / GitLab) for managing scripts and templates
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar systems for task/issue management.
  • A broader interest in applied programming and process automation.
