What you'll do

  • Quickly learn the Company estimating systems and processes.
  • Understand estimating terminology and measures and recognize estimating processes/project actions that may impact the project.
  • Perform Environmental Remediation estimations in Sage Estimating Software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Manage the preparation of an estimate and support proposal team during development of remediation technical approaches.
  • Lead Project Team estimate reviews.
  • Collaborate with project teams and management in development of strategies and plans.
  • Participate in analyzing and using estimations to predict key project issues.
  • Document assumptions clearly for communication with the project team during the bid process and execution of work.
  • Assist in the evaluation of business opportunities and potential profitability.
  • Apply financial analysis and calculate profitability metrics.
  • Understand construction means, methods, and sequences across multiple disciplines.
  • Supervise junior staff through task development, establishing and maintaining goals and expectations, and documenting performance related issues and achievements.
  • Identify and develop talent.
  • Actively participate in all staffing issues affecting their area of responsibility.
  • Assist in tracking action items.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the work of subordinates under the direction of a manager or function as a technical expert.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of ROIC and IRR forecasts.
  • Work directly with subcontractors to resolve technical matters during proposals, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Prepare crew build-ups and production rate determinations.
  • Determine construction equipment selection.
  • Apply working knowledge of planning and scheduling.
  • Understand company cost structure, including overheads, G&A, and insurances.
  • Develop Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Evaluate suitability of scope and execution plan for basis of estimate.
  • Initiate the preparation of an Estimate Plan, Basis of Estimate, and qualifications.
  • Prepare bid tabulations responding to customer/Request for Proposal requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and archive project data.
  • Develop historical documentation.
  • Develop current project estimate comparisons with previous performance and market benchmark data.
  • Help prepare information for Executive Review Committee presentations.

What they require

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Administration in Business AND 6+ years of estimator-related work experience, including environmental remediation, OR demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/clients are security sensitive.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to travel nationwide.
  • Preferred: Estimator with experience preparing successful estimates on competed, large (>$10M), firm fixed priced-performance based environmental remediation work is highly desired.
  • Position offers the ability to work remotely from any place in the United States, preferably near an AECOM office location.
  • All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
