What you'll do

  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements to support NMI's US and UK-based sales teams, including customer proposals and NDAs.
  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal and commercial contract advice directly to colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Support data protection requests and assist in handling and managing various data compliance matters across the business.
  • Negotiate vendor agreements and advise on contracting models, product design, compliance, corporate governance, and other legal issues.
  • Maintain and develop the business's template agreements, contract review guidebooks, and other legal resources to meet NMI's evolving needs.
  • Identify opportunities to create and improve upon legal processes to drive efficiencies across the team.

What they require

  • 2+ years of legal experience, whether at a law firm or in-house.
  • Attorney with a JD and membership in good standing in at least one state bar association.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal and commercial contract advice directly to colleagues at all levels.
  • Creative and strategic thinker who can create and improve upon processes to drive efficiencies.
  • Experience with, or willingness to, work on corporate and commercial matters in both the US and the UK.
  • Quick learner who is comfortable navigating new and unfamiliar matters.
  • Thrives while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Operates independently and can act decisively.
  • Preferred: Experience in-house at a fast-growing technology company or advising FinTechs at a law firm.
  • Preferred: Strong interest in and awareness of the payment industry sector, and SaaS contracting models.
  • Preferred: Payment industry or account-to-account payment experience (a plus).
  • Preferred: Privacy expertise, including familiarity with the GDPR.
  • Preferred: CIPP/E or CIPP/M certification (a plus).
