What you'll do

  • Work is generally independent.
  • Assist the Compliance Department in the implementation of the Company’s Compliance program.
  • Research and advise on federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations that impact SVG agencies including but not limited to HIPAA and TCPA.
  • Provide other legal research as assigned by the General Counsel.
  • Conduct contract reviews and draft legal documents as assigned by the General Counsel.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with established legal principles and requirements.
  • Escalate compliance and privacy concerns to the General Counsel.
  • Provide oversight in assessing product, compliance, privacy or operational risks and contribute to risk management strategies.
  • Assist in the management of litigation as needed.
  • Contribute to the annual Compliance Work Plan.
  • Maintain an expert-level knowledge of compliance trends and applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations to ensure compliance practices are maintained and upheld.

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with admittance to at least one state bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of similar or related experience.
  • Law License in at least one state.
  • Preferred: Healthcare Compliance, Privacy Certifications are a plus.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of HIPAA and TCPA.
  • Prior experience in health insurance compliance
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Acute listening skills.
  • Excellent legal research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to record detailed information thoroughly and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and with coworkers and share knowledge as part of a team.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive as well as responsive —and able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
