What you'll do

  • Assignment or verification of CPT, ICD-10-CM coding and modifiers based on documentation.
  • Resolve edits for electronic charges, ensuring all claim requirements (CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, provider, billing area) are applied.
  • Serve as a resource for accurate assignment of CPT and ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding for single or multi-specialty services.
  • Monitor charge flow and act as a liaison with managers, department administrators and billing personnel.
  • Identify, report and resolve coding and reimbursement issues; identify opportunities to reduce denials.
  • Develop and maintain protocols for assigned areas.
  • Actively participate in new provider orientations and address documentation trends.

What they require

  • High School diploma minimum
  • 3 years minimum experience
  • Coding certification (CPC or CSCC-P) and/or Health Information Management credential (RHIT or RHIA)
  • Advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM coding, payer, and governmental policies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; detail oriented
  • Knowledge of EMRs and electronic charge workflows
