What you'll do

  • Code complex surgical procedures across multiple specialties at ProMedica.
  • Interpret operative notes and procedural documentation as you code provider office and hospital charges for all departments supported by professional billing.
  • Code complex surgical services, procedures and evaluation and management services.
  • Ensure compliance in accordance with official coding guidelines and payor standards.

What they require

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass internal coding test.
  • Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding.
  • 3 years of physician/professional complex surgical and E&M coding experience in a health care system or medical office setting.
  • Complex surgical coding experience includes, but not limited to, OB/Gyn, Gastrointestinal, Neurology, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Cardiothoracic, Urology, ENT, Plastic Surgery and General Surgery.
  • CPC, CCS-P, RHIT or RHIA certification required.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of the professional billing revenue cycle process.
  • Preferred: 4+ years of physician/professional complex surgical and E&M coding experience in a health care system or medical office setting.
  • Employment is limited to residents of certain U.S. states due to legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
