What you'll do

  • Code diseases, procedures and operations for professional and facility services using current diagnosis and procedure classifications
  • Use the electronic medical record and coding references to stay compliant with coding guidelines
  • Partner with providers on feedback and ongoing education regarding coding criteria
  • Monitor daily activity reports to make sure encounters are coded and submitted for billing
  • Help Business Office resolve coding-related denials and resubmit claims
  • Review documentation audits to validate coding efforts

What they require

  • Certified in one of CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, Representative CPC, or RHIT (RHIT) — allowed to be obtained within 12 months of start date
  • Ability to obtain certification within 12 months of start date
