This is a remote, full-time role as a Senior Clinical Data Specialist, focused on Core Measures and Sepsis abstraction for hospital data registries. Reviewing patient records, coding and calculating registry data, and ensuring quality submission. Requires at least one year of direct abstraction experience within the last calendar year.

What you'll do

  • Apply specialized, clinical knowledge of hospital partners: categorize, code, summarize, interpret, and calculate registry/case information from nuanced patient medical records.
  • Ensure quality submission of data in specified registries or measures data repositories, maintaining a high accuracy threshold.
  • Prioritize, organize, and meet tight deadlines for multiple concurrent tasks and team requests.
  • Navigate new technical systems: electronic medical records (EMR) and registry/case entry tools.
  • Contribute to team best practices, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Keep up to date on mandated regulatory/publicly reported data requirements as specified by federal, state, payer, and other agencies.

What they require

  • At least 1 year of experience with CMS Core Insurance Systems abstraction (within the last calendar year)
  • Experience with multiple patient medical record platforms (EMRs) and clinical registries.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to work through issues in a systematic way.
  • High standards for accuracy and detail orientation.
  • Technically savvy with a strong drive to learn new software and technology.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
  • Clear, tone-flexible communication with hospital partners and teams.
  • Strong self-management and time management skills to coordinate multiple accounts with shifting deadlines.
  • Adaptability to changes in requirements and scope.
  • Maintain high standard for protecting PHI (protected health information).
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. now or in the future without employer sponsorship.
