Black Pen Recruitment is hiring a Chief Financial Officer for a U.S. incorporated client operating across 16 African countries, one of the first to bring cryptocurrency and related financial infrastructure products and services to Africa. The role focuses on making crypto, blockchain and FinTech more accessible across the continent.
📋 Responsibilities include:
- Report to the CEO and serve on the Executive Team with full responsibility for the Finance function
- Build out internal and external finance and accounting teams in Africa
- Improve and automate FP&A processes, KPI and financial performance reporting
- Manage liquidity in both fiat currency and cryptocurrencies
- Oversee accurate financial statements and multi-jurisdiction audits
- Ensure tax compliance, strong internal controls and primary liaison with external auditors
- Drive efficiencies and revenue growth through data analysis
🔑 Requirements:
- 5+ years as CFO or VP Finance
- Multi-jurisdictional finance experience including African jurisdictions and group consolidation
- Big 4 audit or bulge-bracket investment bank background with financial services exposure
- Experience living and working in sub-Saharan Africa plus US and/or UK/Europe
- University education in the US and/or UK/Europe
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency and financial services (payments, remittance etc.)
- Transfer pricing and withholding tax expertise
- Strong financial acumen, business partnership, critical thinking and team leadership skills
- English essential
