What you'll do

  • Understand client requirements, collect data, deliver analysis and problem resolution.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend options and implement as required.
  • Collaborate with and facilitate stakeholder groups as part of consultancy agreements.
  • Design and implement sales strategies and work with senior management to implement sales plans.
  • Plan, monitor and control the work of sales teams.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships at executive levels and qualify new sales leads.
  • Lead the bid process and maintain customer contact during and after the selling process.
  • Contribute to development and training of sales teams and product/service development.
  • Oversee promotional/selling activities to ensure alignment with corporate marketing objectives.
  • Approve medium-scale proposals to clients and negotiate with senior client representatives on technical and commercial issues.
  • Ensure organisational policy and strategy is adhered to and provide feedback to promotional strategy and product development.
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure customers are assisted and advised properly.
  • Ensure reliable cost, effort and risk estimates and project plans are produced.
  • Manage all sales support activities and take responsibility for technical content of bids and sales proposals.
  • Establish metrics to provide data on performance and continuous improvement of sales support activities.
  • Carry out day-to-day management of the client services function and define service levels for client services employees.

What they require

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject (Business, IT, Finance or Insurance) or equivalent professional qualifications plus considerable work experience OR substantial relevant work experience.
  • Significant and demonstrable client-facing experience.
  • Demonstrable commercial and financial acumen and understanding of the sales process.
  • Experience of territory planning and new business sales activity.
  • Knowledge of the Caribbean general insurance market, including broking, insurer and MGA operating models and regulatory frameworks (e.g. FSRC, FSC, CBTT).
  • Knowledge of core insurance software systems.
  • Proven track record of profitable business development.
  • Significant client-facing new business sales experience with ability to identify, articulate, negotiate and close business opportunities.
  • Consistent achievement of business goals.
  • Understanding of commercial product pricing.
  • Ability to coordinate the SSP team across multiple levels in large client organisations to generate substantial (>USD $1m) profitable deals.
