What you'll do

  • Supports DLB’s mission critical projects, with a primary focus on building automation systems (BAS), PMS (Power Management System), controls integration, and smart building solutions.
  • Provides technical and project leadership for the planning, and design of BAS/PMS and integrated control systems and develops and maintains DLB controls standards.
  • Collaborates closely with out-source partners, MEP design engineers, construction contractors, equipment vendors, software engineers, project managers, and client representatives to ensure systems are designed, integrated, and delivered in alignment with project requirements and client expectations.
  • Oversees subconsultant scopes of work, including the development, review, and coordination of Statements of Objectives (SOO), construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Ensures subconsultant deliverables are complete, accurate, and aligned with project requirements, organizational standards, and applicable codes and regulations using the DLB QAQC process.
  • Coordinates with project teams and external partners to monitor scope compliance, maintain quality expectations, and support timely delivery of design and documentation packages.
  • Creates and manages project deliverables including design drawings, sequences of operations and specifications
  • Assists in development of various engineering drawings in AutoCAD and Revit format including floor plan drawings, system architecture diagrams, point-to-point wiring diagrams and control panel diagrams
  • Coordinates items with MEP trades that also affect BAS
  • Identifies potential project scope changes and aids in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines
  • Management of project deliverables when they are not the lead design engineer
  • Develops, documents, and maintains BAS and EPMS production standards in conjunction with the BIM team.
  • Develops, documents, and maintains BAS and EPMS specification sections.
  • Reviews existing standards regularly to ensure they align with customer needs, DLB graphics standards, and ongoing innovations in the industry.
  • Provides training, guidance, and support to staff regarding standards implementation and compliance.
  • Works closely with outsource partners standards and training staff to ensure compliance on all projects.
  • Manages and reviews shop drawings and submittals
  • Manages and reviews and responds to RFIs
  • Manages and reviews punch lists and project close out documents
  • Assists and manages onsite BAS engineering audits and feasibility studies
  • Assists and manages BAS engineering surveys for retrofit projects
  • Prepares and oversees development of project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Creates / completes departmental reports
  • Accountable for project contract administration
  • Leverages AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support consistent, high-quality work output.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset, seeking out new technologies, skills, and methods that elevate individual and team performance.
  • Adapts to emerging technologies and evolving digital workflows, actively supporting the integration and adoption of innovative tools across the organization.

  • Skilled at using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives and implement effective solutions
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
  • Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact

  • Approximately 10% travel to client sites, partner offices, or company events across the U.S.
  • B.A. / B.S. degree in Engineering, construction or related disciplines
  • PLUS Minimum of 8 years of experience in BAS controls systems engineering
