What you'll do

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with patient advocacy groups and professional medical societies, healthcare professionals and other external stakeholders
  • Support the development of and implement strategies that align with business objectives, therapeutic area priorities, and the needs of both patients and healthcare professionals
  • Support and/or collaborate with patient advocacy groups and medical societies to address educational gaps within the assigned therapeutic area
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop, support and deliver educational initiatives to enhance patient care
  • Partner closely with internal teams such as marketing, clinical development, medical affairs, public policy, and compliance
  • Attend patient advocacy and medical society related meetings and events and report back internally with actionable insights
  • Represent patients and the patient advocacy function at various internal cross-functional team meetings
  • Identify opportunities for United Therapeutics and patient advocacy organizations to collaborate on important initiatives (patient registries, app development, patient surveys)
  • Explore opportunities to collaborate with patients on editorial/short form publications with Medical Communications
  • Capture feedback from patients and caregivers via advisory panels, surveys, qualitative research
  • Adhere to patient advocacy compliance documents and SOPs and educate the organization on these policies
  • Develop understanding of external patient-related guidance including FDA PFDD and patient preference research and educate colleagues
  • Establish leadership presence in patient advocacy environment and connect with stakeholders
  • Serve as project manager over assigned areas

What they require

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years pharmaceutical industry experience in customer-facing roles OR Master’s Degree with 3+ years OR PhD/PharmD (degree options specified)
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory framework
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
  • Exceptional soft skills including empathy and thoughtfulness when interacting with patients
  • Ability to be proactive, resourceful and show initiative
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite and online meeting platforms (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneDrive, Skype, Zoom)
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and practices
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree, PhD or PharmD and 2+ years demonstrating success in leading/supporting patient advocacy initiatives and/or medical society engagement
