What you'll do

  • Manage a variety of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including restrictive covenant litigation, insurance regulatory issues, potential E&O and professional liability exposures, and general commercial disputes
  • Provide leadership and counseling around litigation and serve as the primary liaison to outside counsel, managing litigation strategy, budgets, and outcomes across multiple firms and jurisdictions
  • Issuing cease-and-desist letters, coordinating notifications to new employers, and supporting related litigation strategy
  • Investigate and manage E&O and broker/agency errors exposure, including coordinating with the Company’s E&O carrier, advising on broker-of-record terminations and client notifications, and corresponding with claimant and opposing counsel
  • Draft and review litigation holds, ensuring timely issuance, tracking, and compliance
  • Prepare quarterly litigation and claims updates to executive leadership, and advise Regional Presidents and senior leadership on litigation risk and strategy
  • Evaluate potential legal exposures and make substantive decisions for all lines of business

What they require

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one state
  • 3+ years of litigation experience at a law firm and/or in-house role
  • Insurance defense and restrictive covenant experience is highly preferred
  • Employment experience is a strong plus
  • Detail-oriented with excellent legal judgment and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effectively deals with issues that are complex, confidential, and sensitive in nature
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent work ethic with a high degree of professionalism, and a proven ability to work both independently and within a team
