Experienced cost management / quantity surveying leader with 8+ years in construction, ideally data centers or mission-critical projects. Must have a relevant degree, SME-level Quantity Surveying expertise, and RICS or equivalent accreditation. Remote role supporting DFW data center projects, with preference for DFW-based candidates and site/office travel required.

What you'll do

  • Lead cost management services for a key hyperscale client.
  • Ensure the successful management of both internal and external stakeholders and the delivery of cost management services on a large-scale, mission-critical data center construction program.
  • Provide leadership and direction while promoting the purpose, values, and vision of Turner & Townsend.
  • Take a lead role interfacing with the client, stakeholders, and consultants at all project stages, particularly on hyperscale and high-density infrastructure developments.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients and consultants throughout all phases of delivery.
  • Perform quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management activities across the full project lifecycle, including large campus developments with significant MEP and infrastructure scope.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with contractors, owner representatives, and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment across complex, multi-site construction programs.
  • Coordinate and assist with the strategic and operational management of Cost Management and Project Controls Services across mission-critical and data center sectors.
  • Act as the first point of contact for reporting on the overall commercial status of projects involving high-value construction and infrastructure investment.
  • Drive Turner & Townsend best practices across all project stages, including projects utilizing modern construction techniques such as modular delivery and advanced cooling systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures, processes, templates, and products in line with evolving market demands.
  • Undertake staff performance reviews and establish clear team strategy and direction.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering growth and high performance.
  • Ensure excellence in leadership and service delivery across all commissions.
  • Financial management, including tracking margin, forecasting resources, and reporting across multiple large-scale projects.
  • Develop priority plans including risk mitigation strategies and performance tracking through KPIs and internal systems.
  • Implement and maintain Business Management Systems and delivery methodologies to ensure consistent best practice.
  • Support internal and external audit processes where required.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the construction market, particularly in rapidly expanding sectors such as data centers and critical infrastructure, and act as a brand ambassador.
  • Advise on contracting and procurement strategies to optimize outcomes across large-scale capital programs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and deliver presentations to senior stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, staffing, and initiatives, proposing solutions and gaining alignment with leadership teams.
  • Identify and act upon business development and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Support proposal development and responses for new project opportunities.
  • Ensure knowledge capture and continuous improvement across all commissions.
  • Attend relevant industry and networking events.
  • Promote a collaborative culture that delivers strong outcomes for people, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

What they require

  • Experienced Associate Director Cost Manager and/or Quantity Surveyor.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience leading a cost management team and ensuring delivery across large, complex construction programs.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in a client-facing environment.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Graduate degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in cost management within the construction industry.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, complex construction projects.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting data centers or mission-critical projects.
  • Preferred: Construction consultancy experience.
  • SME in Quantity Surveying, with RICS certification or equivalent accreditation.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and organizational communication skills.
  • The role can be performed remotely, with a preference for candidates based in the DFW area, and will require travel to project sites and/or the Turner & Townsend office.
  • On-site presence and requirements may change depending on our client's needs.
