What you'll do

  • Complete audits, compile and create claims for submission
  • Respond timely to address up front and backend rejections and work each claim until payment or deemed uncollectable
  • Daily auditing of active and non-active clients to ensure proper program, authorization, diagnosis, and revenue elements
  • Communicate with department and hospital staff to address billing and charge capture issues
  • Address rejected claims: merging, editing and ensuring proper filing per ARS billing rules
  • Ensure worklists assigned by management are up to date and compliant in productivity and accuracy
  • Update EMR and patient accounts and open IT tickets as required
  • Follow up post submission for third-party billing to ensure claims are on file and set to pay
  • Resolve payer rejections via corrective claims, claim level appeals, providing additional information, or advancing claim to UR appeal/Management
  • Document actions throughout claim life cycle by entering notes within Avatar, Waystar, and BB Tech
  • Identify claim rejection and denial trends and bring to management attention
  • Attend AR meetings as needed
  • Apply PDCA improvement processes
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to Part2 regulations and HIPAA guidelines
  • Follow all state regulations and company policies

What they require

  • High School or GED required; Associates Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical business matters at an Acute Hospital Organization, Physician practice, Behavioral Health Facility, or Medical Billing Company
  • Windows 11 personal computer meeting company software and virus security standards (Chromebooks and Apple computers are not compatible)
  • Stable internet connection, distraction-free environment, and functional webcam for virtual meetings
  • Knowledge of state & federal patient confidentiality statutes, Drug-Free Workplace Policies, Workplace Violence, Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program
  • Lean process experience (Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen) preferred
  • CPC, CPAT, or CPAM preferred
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate accurately in writing and orally
  • Must reside in the Eastern (ET) or Central Time (CT) Zone
