ABOUT THE ROLE
Plenful is hiring a Accounting Manager to own our day-to-day accounting. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role with no direct reports. You'll personally run the monthly close, manage AP/AR, expense operations, and payroll processing, and bring a systems and data mindset to how Plenful's financial data gets structured, automated, and scaled. You'll work directly with the Controller to turn accounting processes and reporting into repeatable, well-documented, automated workflows. You'll be the primary owner of accuracy and timeliness in the general ledger.
This role suits someone who's moved beyond their first industry seat and wants to run the accounting engine of a startup directly — someone who understands the rules-based logic of accounting data and wants to keep improving and scaling the data foundation. This role is remote, reporting to the Controller.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Continuous close, month-end close, and year-end close — Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, amortization, revenue recognition, payroll), maintain the close calendar, and deliver a complete, reconciled general ledger every month.
- Revenue and billing operations — Manage executed contracts in the ERP revenue subledger, customer invoicing and communication, and collections and reporting. Reconcile the revenue subledger to the GL monthly and investigate discrepancies.
- Expense management — Own corporate card and expense operations end-to-end (Ramp): policy enforcement, coding accuracy, GL reconciliation, and employee reimbursement processing.
- Payroll processing — Own payroll end-to-end (Rippling): new hire/termination setup, on-cycle and off-cycle payment accuracy, commission calculation, and GL reconciliation.
- Data management and integrity — Own the accuracy and structure of financial data across Campfire, Ramp, Salesforce, Rippling, and Replit, with clean coding, consistent taxonomy, and reliable data flows between systems.
- Systems and automation — Bring a systems-thinking lens to accounting processes, find where manual work can be automated or restructured, and use AI tools to speed up reconciliations, research, and documentation.
You'll know it's working when close is fast and clean (within 5 business days, no material post-close adjustments), revenue and billing hold together, expense and payroll run efficiently and on time, data stays trustworthy and in sync across systems, recurring work keeps getting more automated, and you own everything you touch with radical transparency.
YOU MAY BE A FIT IF
- You've spent 4–7 years in progressive accounting roles, including time in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) followed by an industry role managing day-to-day accounting directly.
- You use AI tools in your day-to-day accounting work — reconciliations, research, drafting, data cleanup — and look for more ways to apply them.
- You bring a systems mindset and look for the logic and data flow behind every process, not just the transaction.
- You've owned accounting operations and month-end close processes with real attention to detail.
- You're comfortable as an individual contributor — this role has no direct reports and needs someone self-directed.
- Bonus points for experience in startup or high-growth environments, particularly pre-audit or early post-audit.
