What you'll do

  • Execute accurate and timely month-end close processes
  • Prepare financial statements and reports aligned with client requirements
  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready workpapers
  • Ensure reporting complies with applicable accounting standards
  • Review financial data for discrepancies and resolve issues proactively
  • Maintain consistent reporting timelines across multiple accounts and entities
  • Process payroll accurately using Gusto or similar payroll platforms
  • Set up and maintain employees within payroll systems
  • Ensure payroll information and documentation remain accurate
  • Support payroll-related compliance requirements
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies before processing deadlines
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records
  • Manage accounting activity across multiple entities, locations, or business segments
  • Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations
  • Ensure financial transactions are properly classified and recorded
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting systems
  • Calculate and file U.S. state sales tax
  • Ensure filings are completed accurately and on time
  • Maintain supporting documentation for tax filings
  • Track compliance deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Help maintain clean, audit-ready financial records
  • Build and maintain customized financial reports

What they require

  • 5+ years of accounting or finance experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with accrual accounting and GAAP financial reporting
  • Experience managing multi-entity, multi-location, or multi-segment accounting
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online, with QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise experience also relevant
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Data Tables
  • Hands-on payroll processing experience using Gusto or a similar platform
  • Experience calculating and filing U.S. state sales tax
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently during U.S. business hours
  • You understand accrual accounting beyond basic bookkeeping
  • You’re highly accurate and detail-oriented
  • You can confidently manage complex accounting structures
  • You’re comfortable owning month-end close from start to finish
  • You identify accounting discrepancies before they become larger problems
