The Body Design and Release Engineer (D&R) in the Closures division will be responsible for designing, developing, and releasing structural and mechanical components for Removable Tops in vehicles, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, functionality, and cost standards. This role will collaborate closely with manufacturing and testing teams, as well as suppliers, to ensure that designs are feasible, comply with automotive regulations, and meet product performance requirements. Responsibilities will include interface and coordinating the packaging with product design office, vehicle development, other Exterior and Body Engineering teams, all adjacent departments (electromechanical, electrical, lighting, trim); and suppliers to design, develop and release these components/systems. The Engineer will provide feasibility input for development of designs from Product Design Office (PDO) concepts, sketches, and clay models. Other responsibilities will include quality improvements, weight reduction, cost reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management. To develop functional objectives, build objectives, DVP&R / DFMEA & manage the production supplier to meet all requirements. Also responsible of the release of completed geometry using NX Teamcenter CAD tools. Requirements Experience designing and developing on the following: ---> Body in White, Closures, Hard Tops, Soft Tops, Door Glass (Window Regulators), Door Modules, Tonneaus Exposure CAD experience with Unigraphics NX, Catia V5 and Teamcenter in a production release environment BIW (Body in White). Knowledgeable regarding high strength steels/ aluminum forming processes, weld parameters and GD&T. Experience/knowledge with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and validation plans. Bom’s creation and edition. Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and/or Reactive Green/Black Belt is a plus. CAE/Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) knowledge. Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook). CATIA V5 knowledge is a plus.
