   Yet Another Job Scam, But This Time By Intelligent Techies xyz@Indegene.com xyz@lndegene.com Both same right? No! The uppercase of 'i' and lowercase of 'L' (Il) looks alike in standard fonts. Would you believe that someone is using this to steal money? Read on! Disclosure: I believe and put it on record that Indegene is not associated with these scammers in any way. I reported this to them and they are looking into the matter. Kartik Malhotra, kartik_malhotra@lndegene.com (L i Change!) claiming to be Indegene HR contacted me for a job he had posted and I’ve applied in hirist.com Brief of the process: Round 1: HR Interview - Round 2: Technical Test - Round 3: Behavioural. After Round 3, He sent ‘Letter of Confirmation’ which had CTC, DOJ and all. He said, “This Tableau Certification is very important for the role. You need to get certified. The money you spent for the certification will be reimbursed. After certification, We will have policies and CTC Discussion as 4th round”. After some time he called again and said “If you are having trouble finding good Institutes, I have got a link for a portal. If you share your basic details there, some institute will get in touch with you and offer the training and certificate”. That “Portal” was just a Zoho Form. I filled in the details. Then got a call from an ‘Institute’. The HR tried to persuade me to do the certification from the institute when I suggested that I'll do the certification from Tableau’s Official page instead of some random institutes. But this persuasion by him was so subtle that the uninitiated wouldn't have noticed. (One Batman Reference would not hurt) These are all red flags. Still, even smart people do fall for these scams. The worst part is that people may not even realize that they have been scammed. These scammers would have simply rejected the candidates after the fourth round. I have been privileged with access to computers and the internet for 20 years now. I have seen a lot of scams like this. If 'I' had wasted my time on this scam, there is going to be a lot of people who wasted their time and money. Without even trying, I found a person who fell for this scam. So these people are operating at scale. With the digital divide our country faces, It is everyone's duty to contribute to making the internet a safer place to be.
