We're currently looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our team. About the Role As a Senior SDET, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our solutions. You will be responsible for designing, developing, automating, and executing tests across front-end and back-end systems. Additionally, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contributing to high-performance solutions that meet regulatory compliance and quality standards. About the Project You’ll work with Roche Sequencing Solutions San Jose, a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team building regulated end-to-end solutions for laboratory accessioning, processing, and reporting. This includes supporting NIPT and Oncology test offerings. Building these solutions requires expertise in Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Client Services, Medical Affairs, Laboratory Operations, Systems Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory fields. Flexible schedule, with meetings aligning with US time zones. As a qualified expert, You will: Design and maintain a multi-module automation framework for API and UI testing. Write BDD scenarios (Cucumber/Gherkin) and implement step definitions. Build API tests with Retrofit/OkHttp and UI tests with Playwright (Page Object Model). Integrate tests into GitHub Actions with parallel, multi-environment execution. Produce actionable reports (Allure, Cucumber HTML) and collaborate with developers on coverage. Perform in a tester role within a Scrum team, contributing to sprint planning, refinement, and delivery. We’re looking for you if you have Strong programming skills in Java (Java 17+); comfortable writing clean, maintainable, production-quality code. Hands-on experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber) and Gherkin. Proven experience with UI automation (Playwright, Selenium, or similar) using the Page Object Model. Solid understanding of REST API testing and HTTP client libraries (Retrofit/OkHttp, RestAssured, or equivalent). Experience with JUnit 5 (or comparable test runners) and parallel test execution. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar) and version control with Git/GitHub. Proficiency with Maven (or Gradle) multi-module builds. Comfortable working in macOS/Linux environments and scripting with Bash. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and a high-performance mindset. Upper-Intermediate English, fluent Ukrainian.
