Hey everyone, just wanted to make you aware of a job scam I recently came across. Seems with the down turn in the economy mixed with the strikes that are impacting our industry there has been an uptick in job posting scams. I recently came across one that was rather involved falsely stating it was from Warner Music Group. It would appear that they are using Chat-GGPT to generate a rather convincing job posting with an accurate pay rate, title explanation, as well other information about the job. I was contacted by email from a supposed recruiter about a job that was inline with my skills, they stated to have found my information from Behance. The email address was suspect from the get go, but I like messing with scammers so I played along. They were actually using the identity of an actual recruiter for WMG (I've tried to contact them to let them know this is happening). They string you along with a seemingly legitimate proposition followed by a text based interview through Skype, followed by a seemingly legit job offer with a W-4 included. They will use the W-4 to extract your social and any bank account information. Here's some tips to identify possible job scams: Does the email address seem legitimate? Does it actually use the domain that the person is claiming to be from? In this case the email address was info@warnermusic.store Does the email signature look legit? Can they provide a link to the specific job opening? I asked repeatedly and the best they provided me was a link to WMG.com, not the specific job opening. Are they asking for bank or personal information? Never reveal your bank account or social security information unless it's through a secure channel. When in doubt, ask for an in person or video interview. Use common sense, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Stay safe, and happy job hunting! Also, I have some availability if anyone wants to crush on some motion graphics! Get at me!anonymous report ·
